Onward to Cyprus!

After battling the snow, ice, mud and injuries (caused by said challenges) through Hungary, I came to the realization that trying to traverse Serbia in the middle of Winter was a bit more than I could chew. My late start has caught up to me, which was not completely unexpected. I decided to stop at the Hungary-Serbia border and fly to Cyprus to continue walking. I will walk across Cyprus from East to West, and start walking back towards Serbia, reversing course.

While I had glorious plans to finish at the ocean in Cyprus, I am willing to change those plans in the name of self-preservation.

I am flying to Cyprus today, and will start walking in the next few days, once I acclimatize to the new surroundings. I still owe you reports on the rest of Hungary (Putnok to Nyirbator, and Nyirbator to the border), which I will try to post soon. I have space left in my Hungary photo album, so I will be adding Cyprus to that album in Google Photos.

At this stage, I have walked 6115km (3800mi). Please continue to follow as the journey continues in Cyprus!

  1. All the best to you and your project Heath ! I’ve been walking the E4 in 2016 from Kalambaka to Cyprus (cape Greco), in case you need some info (especially on the continental Greece part, which needs to be planned ahead !). Get well and… enjoy the rest of your walk ! Jerry

  2. Hey Heath, just wanted to touch base to say I love you, and have been thinking about you… hope that reversing course helps to improve on the weather, and your injuries. Alisson, Parker & I are doing well. TTYS Love, Derek

    1. Thanks! Love you guys too. Weather is definitely better, but starting to have doubts that my injuries will improve. I had a few days off while transitioning to Cyprus, and I’m already hurting after the first day out. Trying to stay positive, but my body isn’t healing itself anymore. Just have to take it a day at a time. Talk soon!
